Eight happy-go-lucky KMCers travelled to North Wales last weekend in search of some awesome rock.
Friday saw the party arrive in dribs and drabs, with the only ascent being a daring and tempestuous climb of Direct Route on Milestone in gale-force winds by Claire and Tina.
On Saturday, the strong southerly winds persisted, so the team opted to try their luck on the cliffs of Anglesey. They were rewarded with sunshine, sheltered conditions, and miles of knobbly quartzite routes that kept them busy all day.
Overnight showers soaked the climbs in the Pass, prompting many members to head onwards to Pembroke for an extended trip. A few of us, however, threw the dice and made for the quick-drying slate quarries of Dinorwig. Opposite The Quarryman, another epic four-pitch sport route was completed, with the crux being a technical 7a pitch heroically led by Adam.
All the more evidence that, whatever the weather, North Wales always has something to offer—and plenty of memorable, exciting climbing to keep us coming back.
