A fine-granite quarry close to Castle Rock in St. Johns in the Vale. Many upper tier routes are hard to protect with trad gear and most have now been retro-bolted.
WARNING: September 2018 – rockfall reported at the far right hand end of the upper tier, routes around the area of false profit. There is reportedly some loose blocks still ‘attached’ to the crag which may fall so either avoid or use caution.
Not an aesthetic crag but good slab climbing and accessible for a quick hit.
Approach notes
Park in a layby just South of the quarry entrance, follow the zig-zag track to a T-junction, turn right and then up the grass ridge to the upper tier, or straight on to the lower tier.

Hi all, it’s the Bram crag quarry meet onTuesday 27th (tomorrow). There’s Sport routes from 5’s to far too hard. Parking is at the road side in St John’s in the vale

It’s about a 5 minute walk in. There’s probably space for 10 cars close by.
Unfortunately but entirely expected the forecast is not good! Rain all day on the bbc and the met office and so I’m putting the meet back till Thursday when the forecast is slightly better. (I am working freelance on Thursday (in Threlkeld) but I don’t finish till about 6 and so I will be late for that meet. Fingers crossed this weather improves!!

Ok so the forecast is now positive on both the BBC and met office and so the Thursday Bram crag quarry is on! We usually plan on meeting in the centre park area where there are lots of easier grade routes and so I suggest people meeting there if you arrive early. I cannot arrive until about 6.30 and so I cannot do any introductions for anyone new. Can I get an idea of who is planning to come and I can take it from there. Thanks Dan

Bram crag meet report
After Tuesdays washout and lots weather watching 7 of us went to Bram crag to search for the dry routes. As expected there was lots of seepage in different areas but still plenty of routes available. We stuck to the upper quarry and routes climbed included.Good by mr major

Climbing into twilight we finished just before it rained and went to the salutation.
The members who attended were: Bry and Claire, Jonathon c and Sam, Matt and myself.
Note: For those who fancy the 6b+ 3 star northern soul be aware it looked (and sounded) much harder than a Kong 6b+ good work Matt!!
