A fine-granite quarry close to Castle Rock in St. Johns in the Vale. Many upper tier routes are hard to protect with trad gear and most have now been retro-bolted.

WARNING: September 2018 – rockfall reported at the far right hand end of the upper tier, routes around the area of false profit.  There is reportedly some loose blocks still ‘attached’ to the crag which may fall so either avoid or use caution.

Not an aesthetic crag but good slab climbing and accessible for a quick hit.

Approach notes

Park in a layby just South of the quarry entrance, follow the zig-zag track to a T-junction, turn right and then up the grass ridge to the upper tier, or straight on to the lower tier.

This it an update to let you know that due to a minor arm injury, I shall unfortunately not be attending tomorrow’s meet at Bram Crag. and that Ian Massey will be taking over as meet leader. Have a good climb, Cheers, Steve.

I will be leaving Cockermouth at 14.30 to get to Bram Crag rock face at about 15.30.
I will be traveling with Jonathan Coles and Judith Brown so I have one space left in my car. Let me know if you want a lift.
Ian Massey ( stand-in meet leader).

A really good turnout for a great evening. Those that live in the west set off from home in the rain, only to get to the crag to find the rock warm and, mostly dry. The usual routes on centre parks were completed, Jonathan Coles celebrated his 80th birthday in style, congrats to him.
    Attendees.

    Thanks for the good turnout.
    Ian Massey, (stand-in meet leader)

The routes on the Center Parks area were well hammered. Everyone seemed to be going well early in the season including Jonathan Coles who was celebrating his 80th birthday, congratulation to him from all of us. Good to see Richard Easton back on the rock. Welcome to our newest member Peter Wilson.
