Winter Walk – Mellbreak and Crummock Saturday 11 Feb 2023

We gathered at Lanthwaite Wood car park ready for a very civilised 10am start.
Taking the track into the wood, then paths around Crummock Water, we eventually joined the main ascent up the scree on the north end of Mellbreak. Drizzle and low cloud were gradually clearing and at the north top the views were beginning to improve. The ridge path to the south top was as usual, boggy. Dropping down off Mellbreak we continued over Scale Beck to Scale Force which provided a pleasant outlook for a lunch break before returning along the edge of Crummock.
Thanks to everyone for travelling over and making it a very sociable walk – with conversation continuing over refreshments in the Kirkstile Inn.
