A small but keen group met at Seathwaite. We climbed the grade 1 first, which was pleasant, then descended to climb the grade 3 which was very good – fantastic rock with some challenging short sections but with good holds. The tops stayed clear so we had good views and there was no wind.
The team was Jamie, Brendan, Richard and Judith and we rounded off the day with brews – some alcoholic, some not – at the Newfield Inn, an excellent, traditional pub that has so far resisted the temptation to do itself up as an eatery.
Not as exciting as what the Scottish team were up to at the same time, but a very enjoyable day nonetheless.
