This meet is ON. At the moment both Met Office and MWIS suggest the rain will arrive later on Saturday and the temperatures – although not as scorching as now – also aren’t plummeting as I feared. So it is worth giving this meet a go in the hope of lowish water levels.
Meet at Birks Bridge Car Park at 9.30. It is the tail-end of the school holiday week so parking may be in demand – please share vehicles where possible. I can offer lifts from Cockermouth Business Park (wigwams) leaving at 8 a.m.
Details: Tarn Beck is a true gill scramble. Last time I did it was during a drought and we still got wet – including some wading – so best done in shorts/quick-dry trousers and with a change of footwear. The grade is variable 1 or 2 according to choice of line. If the day stays pleasant we can continue the fun via Raven Nest Howe and/or Far Hill Crag, both Grade 2, short and steep but good rough rock with good holds.
If you would like a lift from Cockermouth please e-mail judithbrown3@aol.com or let me know via WhatsApp.
