    Hello KMC

My name’s Nick Hall and I’m getting in touch on behalf of Campaign for National Parks, the only independent charity dedicated to securing the future of National Parks in England and Wales.

2024 is the 75th anniversary year of the founding of National Parks in the UK and tomorrow we’re launching our Save Our National Parks campaign. We hope, like us, you recognise the immense value of these amazing places and we’d love to have your support for the campaign and amplifying our messages where possible.

Why we urgently need to Save Our National Parks

National Parks are the UK’s most iconic and awe-inspiring landscapes, a source of wellbeing, adventure, community and connection with nature for millions of people. But the truth is that these protected landscapes are under threat like never before – wildlife depletion, water pollution, damaging climate change and a growing divide when it comes to who can live, work and visit these places.

National Parks can overcome these challenges but are being held back by out-of-date legislation and limited resources. Our politicians hold the key to rescuing these landscapes, but they are failing to take proper action.

    We want to change this.

That’s why we’re launching our Save Our National Parks petition tomorrow Wednesday 24th January at 10am.

The petition calls on our political leaders to commit to an ambitious programme of action at the next UK election to transform our National Parks for the benefit of people, nature and the planet.

We want to show the politicians just how many people care passionately about protected landscapes and want to see them safeguarded for current and future generations. Together we can build a nationwide movement of people from all ages and backgrounds committed to a shared vision of what National Parks should be:

    1. Wilder and nature-rich across land and sea

    2. Protected from pollution, destruction and harm

    3. Resilient to climate change

    4. Inspiring wonder, discovery and wellbeing in everyone

    5. Home to thriving communities

    6. Benefitting from sustainable tourism, farming and transport

    7. Celebrated for their natural beauty and proud heritage

How you can support the campaign

Sign the petition when it goes live tomorrow morning and help send our political leaders a powerful message that National Parks matter. Every name counts.

You can also circulate the petition around your organisation, networks, mailing lists, and across social media. We’ve put together a campaign toolkit for you to use and will be posting ourselves across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

This petition is just the start of a busy campaigning year to coincide with the 75th anniversary of National Parks

We’ll be taking action on nature recovery, peatland restoration, clean water, improving access, youth engagement and sustainable transport to name but a few, and we would love to work with as many partners and supporters as possible.

If you want to get more involved you can sign up for our mailing list or consider becoming a CNP Council member. Alternatively get in touch with me by email and do suggest if there’s anyone else I should be speaking to.

Thanks in advance for all your support – together we can #SaveOurNationalParks for the next 75 years and beyond.

    Nick Hall
