Paul Pritchard talking on “Mount Asgard West Face” George Hotel Penrith, 1930 Tues 19-11-24 (£10 cash only)
On his own admission Paul Pritchard was not a success at school. However, a teacher introduced him to rock climbing when he was 15. Within a year he was tackling the hardest climbs in Britain, and he then went on to create hard climbs in the mountains around the world, until a rock striking him on the head ended his hard climbing. He has documented his long recovery in a series of books and has become an energetic ambassador for disabled rights. The meat of his talk will be about his ascent of the East Face of Asgard, a fantastic granite spire on Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic. However, Paul is always willing to talk about his recovery from his accident as well as his climbs. EVMC can promise an entertaining and informative evening with one of our climbing greats.
Entry, cash only please, will be £10 per person. Any surplus will be given to a climbing good cause such as Cumbria Bolt Fund or Fix the Fells.
