The weather forecast is dry and sunny for our next meet at Doves Nest Crag on Tuesday.
Opposite Raven Crag, Dove Nest was formed by a great rock face slipping downwards which now leans back against the rock face behind. The result is a crag that has a number of passages and cavities running throughout it! These passages have made Dove Nest well known.
There are 17 climbs in total ranging from D to E1, some of which take you through the cavities behind the rock slab.
Approach
Climb into Combe Gill but stay on the left hand side of the beck. The crag is the obvious clean outcrop of rock just to the left of the head of the combe. An hour from the road. Parking is on the RHS of the access road to Thorneythwaite Farm. Access to the parking area (NY256140 (ish) is just before you reach the Mountain View cottages, coming from Keswick.
I hope to be at the crag around 3:30 and look forward to seeing you there.
Cheers, Steve..
