At the moment the Tuesday forecast is for dry, sunny weather, so this meet is on. I will be out in the hills from early on that day, aiming to reach the crag by 4pm.
As well as the classic of Corvus (diff), there are other routes worth doing, including Raven Crag Buttress (V.Diff), and there are several worthwhile single pitch routes at the left-hand end of the crag for late arrivals.
Parking at Thorneythwaite (£3 in the honesty box) or at the NT car park at Seatoller. Approach via the main path up Combe Ghyll, keeping the ghyll on your left. The crag eventually appears on the south west side of the combe.

Summer decided to put in a welcome appearance for this meet, so despite the fact that the crag does not get the evening sun, the walk -in was warm and we climbed under a blue sky. Recent rainfall had left its mark by way of some damp streaks, but these did not cause any bother. Vegetation on the less frequented routes proved more of a problem, including eating Phil’s spectacles, now lost for eternity in the jungle of the upper reaches of Crystal Slab.
The classic diff, Corvus, received three ascents, with ascents also being made of Raven Crag Buttress, Crystal Slab, and the esoteric Summit Route on which Richard and Jon were last seen disappearing into the final of rather a lot of pitches.
Those of us who made it to the pub enjoyed some decent beer and took turns in pinching Stuart’s chips.
The team was Fiona, Judith, Richard, Jon T, Jonathan C, Ian, Mike H, Mark W, Mark H, Brendan, Stuart, Mattthew and prospective member, Phil
