Quayfoot buttress is a clean glaciated buttress close to the car park. Quick drying.
Forty to fifty metre routes on excellent rock. A great evening or short day venue. Crypt Direct(E1), Go Between(E2), Mandrake(HVS), Irony(HVS), Aberration(MVS), Quayfoot Buttress(VD).

Wodens Face is a clean face with lower grade routes although some routes are polished in places

Approach notes

Both are a few minutes from the NT Bowderstone car park.

The Tuesday dry weather window looks to be in place, so the meet is on unless things change between now and then.

Both crags are a short walk from the Bowderstone NT car park, and I am to get there between 4pm and 4.30pm.

If you haven’t been before and need more info, either share a lift with others who know, or contact me (tinaholt2004@yahoo.co.uk or via the KMC WhatsApp).

There will be plenty heading over from Cockermouth and I’ll be setting off from Keswick (can pick up at Kong) just before 4pm if I’m out of work on time.

It was a busy meet with 20 of us spread across the crags. Mark W had arranged for the weather to be dry as usual. Good to see some new faces as well as the regular ones.

Routes were climbed – just about every route below VS was climbed on Woden’s, and maybe a VS or two as well, not sure as the meet leader wandered off to the other crag. Ascents of things like Aberration, Mandrake, Irony etc were made by VS-HVS crew over at Quayfoot – apologies if I missed any routes out.

We aren’t going to mention a retreat from the soaking slimy section on pitch 2 of Quayfoot Buttress, V Diff. If you want to grab yourself a bit of crag swag, there’s a very fine nut part way up the second pitch (but don’t let Johnny see you with it….).

Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone off, here goes: Scott, Steve Dixon, Dave Welsh, Mike Korner, Johnny, Brendan, Jamie, Robyn, Charlie, Matt A, Mark M, Mark W, Mike M, Mike W, Stuart K, Martin Atwood, Pete, Steve Pollington, Johathan C, Tina

And some ended up at the Borrowdale Hotel for a drink afterwards – apologies if due to lack of clear leadership, anyone ended up in a different pub.

    Tina
