This weeks meet is High Crag at Buttermere. The crag offers good quality routes in the HS to E1 range. The weather forecast is fairly positive, being mainly dry but with potential for a shower. I will make a call on Monday PM or even Tuesday AM depending on how the forecast develops.

I intend to leave Gates Garth at 3pm or slightly later. Please let me know if you are coming, by whatsapp or email markamegan@gmail.com

Walk in is around 45 mins from Gates Garth Farm. Follow the path across the valley and up towards Scarth Gap until you reach a gate, from where you follow a fence up the hill keeping to its left hand side.

The BBC forecast is for 30-50% chance rain at buttermere village for the hours we would be climbing, Met Office for buttermere looks much better, but a glance at the weather map shows large showers coming across lakes at 4 and 5 pm, which are more likely to catch the crag at the south of the valley and higher up. As Thursdays forecast if for fully dry weather, at present, I am going to postpone until Thursday. Apologies to those who are unable to make it.

The postponed meet went ahead in good conditions – perhaps a little more wind would have been appreciated to keep the midges down at times. A small band of 6 climber made it to the crag and completed Ludo, Delilah, Article, Dry Trim and Gethsame with a small diversion to rescue a lamb, enabling Alistair to display his shepherding skills in reuniting it with is mother. Present were Mark M, Mark W, Mick, Pete, Mike W and Alistair.
