Goats Crag is in an idyllic setting, with splendid views and on quick drying rock. Gets plenty of sun.

Up to 15m high. Plenty of good short routes from D to E4. The best of which are; Mort (E1), Pussy Galore (E2), Optional Omission (E1), Inner Limits (HVS), Emma Line (HVS), Mackanory (E1)

Approach
20 min steep approach from the Watendlath road, through a field then directly up the fellside.

DON’T REPLY TO THIS EMAIL – REPLIES NOT SEEN.

The forecast for Tuesday is a bit mixed, so I’ll be keeping an eye on it, but for now the trip to Goats Crag, Wadendlath is going ahead. Parking close to the crag is limited (just 3 or 4 snug spaces in a layby) so please car-share where possible, as ever. More parking available in the National Trust car park at Watendlath itself if necessary.

Goats Crag has two tiers – the higher of which offers a wider choice of routes and slightly less moss. That’s where I’ll be heading in any case, aiming to get there around 4pm.

If you have any questions please text me on 07912 645 824 or ping a message via WhatsApp.

A small but determined band of KMCers made a valiant assault on Goat Crag: but it was not to be. The rain came in earlier than expected and from our excellent viewpoint it was clear that it was here to stay. We decided to retreat to the pub and support the Keswick economy. Attendees included Mark W. Judith, Mark M. Pete, Jon, Richard, Dave H., Tina and me (Ann). Routes climbed included Poland (VS), Mull Wait (HS) and Son of Oz (HS).
