Crag features
Short routes on sound rough rock over a good grade range. High on the fell but with an easy approach and dries quickly. Best routes are Yellow fever(E2), First Touch(E1), Glass Slipper(E2), Anns Agony(HVS), Skye Ridge(VD).
Needle Arete is an excellent E3 6a.
A number of the routes have thought provoking levels of protection !
A fantastic venue for late/early season, catching any sun that’s going.
Approach notes
Park at the summit of Wrynose Pass by the Three Shire Stone. Twenty minutes steady uphill walk.

Saturday’s meet is at Black Crag, Wrynose. This pleasant single pitch crag (along with its neighbour Long Scar, which is a short walk away) has an excellent selection of routes from VDiff to the mid E grades. Best guidebooks are the latest FRCC Langdale guide or the newest FRCC Duddon guide. These crags are approached in 30-40 minutes from the top of Wrynose Pass. Consequently, car sharing is essential. I’d suggest trying to arrive at Wrynose for about 9am. The weather is currently not looking good, but things may change so I will make a final decision on Friday evening.
