Classic Borrowdale climbing! Two main buttresses, North buttress on the left and South buttress on the right.

Home to the deservedly popular Troutdale Pinnacle (S). Other classics include The Shroud (VS), The Mortician (HVS), Troutdale Pinnacle Superdirect (HVS), Raindrop (E1), Prana (E3) and Grand Alliance (E4).

A twenty minute walk from parking in laybys just south of the Leathes Head Hotel.  Alternatively Park in the Bowderstone NT car park and take the path at the left hand side back to Black Crag

We have a good forecast for Tuesday, dry and potentially sunny. The venue is Black Crag, one of my favourite crags, home of some superb multi-pitch climbs. One of the best, and certainly most popular, being Troutdale pinnacle (S) but many other classic VS’s and above as well.

There is parking for a few cars in a layby just past Leathes Head Hotel ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/vW8ekrzBejuV73Df7 ) Take the track adjacent to the hotel, cross the stream and take the steep path up through the woods (20mins). or if that is full you can approach from the Bowderstone NT car park.

Anyone needing more info/directions please whatsapp or email me (markamegan@gmail.com ). I;m expecting to be at the crag from 4pm.

A very pleasant evening was had on Black Crag. Weather was great for climbing and the crag was dotted with climbers without ever feeling like it was excessively busy. The action took place on South Buttress with the polished Troutdale Pinnacle inevitably seeing a number of ascents , other climbs completed included The Mortician, Troutdale Pinnacle Direct, Holly Tree Corner and Troutdale Ridge.

The evening seemed to be marked by dropped and lost gear/property… and to join in I have lost my attendee list, so from memory and with apologies to anyone I miss our climbers were: Mark M, Mark W, Pete, Mike W, Geraint, Scott, Tina, Johnny, Andy, Jane, Stuart, Rachael, Matt S, Robyn with Matt A and Ros putting in the night shift. Steve and Kath P didn’t quite get there but met up in the Dog and Gun after diverting to Woden’s Face.
