Home to some of the best slab pitches in the Lakes!! Of note are Lakeland Cragsman (HVS) and Aphasia (E2).

These fine slabs are slightly below and to the right of Sergeant Crag and can be reached in about 1 hourĀ from Stonethwaite. Approach as for Bleak How but continue along the path to Gash Rock (a large boulder by the beck) and then strike directly up the hillside. The routes are on excellent rock and receive the afternoon and evening sun. The foot of the slab is gained by scrambling up to a narrow earthy ledge from the left.

Descent from the crag has been subject to a lot of debate over the last few years. The bolts placed to replace the removed tree on the left hand side of the crag have been chopped, however the BMC has decided to replace them. For full details see http://www.thebmc.co.uk/news_det.asp?item_id=923

Abseil descent.
