Well if there was an inversion, we didn’t reach it! Leaving Overbeck we climbed into cloud at about 400m and had a very foggy traverse of Yewbarrow. We had an enjoyable scramble down to Dore Head which was also under cloud and chilled by a stiff breeze. The lone walker following us clearly found the scramble less enjoyable. After a pause for refreshment, and given there appeared no chance of the cloud clearing, a vote (pretty much unanimous) dictated a walk back down the Overbeck valley, emerging from the cloud for hazy views of Wastwater and a return to the cars. Thanks to Ros, Ann S, Jonathan C, Mick, Chris (+Nelson) and Isla for very enjoyable walk. There are lovely views to come back for next time – honestly! Kath and Steve
