Weather willing, this is an excellent walk with varied terrain and great views. The plan is to start at 0930 from the parking spots (free layby ///wound.alas.into or off road [honesty box] just west) by the church at Seathwaite in the Duddon. We’ll walk up the Walna Scar Road and over the top of Dow Crag, perhaps visiting the Old Man of Coniston, before looping back to the cars via Seathwaite Tarn; a descent that is likely to be quite wet underfoot.
Currently the weather forecast is not good, but still very uncertain. We’ll make a final decision on Friday afternoon. Please let us know if you’re planning on coming (SP: 07713017740, s.d.price@ucl.ac.uk). Fingers crossed for the weather.
