The weather forecast looks good so the meet is on unless I cancel on Friday. Casual car-sharing would be difficult because of the bikes. It would be nice to know if you will come.

The plan is to leave Bowness Knott car park at 9.00, cycle along the N bank of the Liza to the end of the forestry track, walk over Kirk Fell (short section of steep path), and back under the N. face to the bikes. The forestry track can be ridden on a road bike, but a mountain bike is more comfortable. I will carry a spare 26 in x 1.7-2.2 in inner tube and a puncture repair kit
Bowness Knott car park is managed by Forestry England and, in principal, charges fees. But the last few times I have been there, the meter was not working. Misers may find parking by the roadside a hundred or so metres before the park. Bleach Green car park at the western end of the lake is free, but the lakeside track to Bowness Knott is inconvenient because of steps and dense pedestrian traffic.
We will cycle back along the S bank of the Liza. If the water is not too high, we can ride through the ford; if not we will cross by the FRCC Memorial Bridge and meet at the Tom Wren memorial boulder. The Fox and Hounds is in the centre of Ennerdale Bridge village.

Just to let you know that the Memorial Bridge was taken out by Storm Eowyn!
The bridge beyond the Blacksail YH has now been replaced.
