Currently the weather forecast for Saturday is very unsettled and the route requires dry rock. Therefore I will make the call about whether the meet is on or not later in the week.
If it goes ahead, the plan is as follows:
Meet at Seathwaite Farm, near the farm gate/turning area at 9.30.
There is parking along the road, usually very busy. The farmer often has a field open for parking for a small charge. Alternatively there is National Trust parking and a bus stop at Seatoller – allow additional time to walk to the meeting point if using this option. I plan to set off from Cockermouth business park at 8.30 and can offer lifts from there, or pick up in Keswick on way through.
Anyone coming in from the Wasdale side, meet at the mountain rescue stretcher box at Styhead.
The route: approach is via the climbers traverse to the base of Eagles Nest Gully where the scrambling starts. The route is grade 2 but with some tricky sections so we will take a rope to protect these. It is your personal preference whether to bring a harness or to tie directly into the rope for these sections. However, a helmet is strongly recommended for this route as there is some loose rock.
I will send out a message later in the week to confirm or cancel according to the weather forecast.
