Tuesday’s meet (15 July) is at Raven Crag in Langdale. This fine crag offers a variety of multi-pitch routes on clean, quick drying rock, from Diff upwards. Be aware there has been a recent rockfall on Raven Crag Buttress, in the vicinity of Oak Tree Wall/Holly Tree Traverse. After some work the FRCC now describe the area as “relatively safe” (https://www.frcc.co.uk/raven-crag-langdale-rockfall-update/); however, as always, make your own judgement about the state of the rock.
At the moment the forecast is very uncertain for Tuesday, but does not look totally encouraging. We’ll post a final decision on whether the meet will go ahead late on Monday afternoon.
There is NT pay and display parking at the Old Dungeon Ghyll NY286061 followed by a 10-15 minute walk up to the crag. But this small carpark is often full, and an alternative is to park at Stickle Barn (NT) and walk to the ODG (15 mins). Pub afterwards will be The Old Dungeon Ghyll.
Weather permitting, Kath and I plan to be at the ODG at 1500 to walk up to the crag. Let us know if you are coming, and roughly when, so we can look out for you. (s.d.price@ucl.ac.uk, 07713017740, or WhatsApp.
