Well the day dawned warm and sunny, just as the nice weatherman had foretold, 5 KMC members made their way to Langdale with A/C on max. Arrriving at the Lanty Slees car park bags were carefully packed to minimse weight and the team set off prompt at 09:30 with Gimmer crag in thier sights. As we passed the toilet block the first perspiration rolled down the face but we soldiered on making the firts stream crossing in good time, golly it was hot. Onwards and upwards the group went passing many a walker resting and fanning themselves by the path to the second stream crossing, did I mention it was hot. Now for the steep bit, as the altimeter ticked over so the pace faded and individuals were forced to question why on earth we do this stuff, phew it was hot, fortunately the ridge line offered respite from the gradient and a light breeze cooled us all before the onset of heat exaustion. The remaining approach was signifactly easier and, after changing into dry clothes climbing commenced with assents of Ash Tree Corner, Ash tree slabs and F route, the latter two and the abseils back to the bags had to be completed in rain…. so much for dry clothes. The return to Langdale was thankfully downhill but the sun came out to thoroughly warm the members on thier return to the Car Park. As we had already been wet, then dry, then wet and dried out a little we finished the day with a wet (but isotonic) ale from the Lanty Slees. Thanks to Mark M, Stuart K, Judith and Ros for joining me, as always at Gimmer the climbing was good even if the weather could have been alittle more amenable. Did I mention it was warm

    Cheers
