With regard to this Saturday’s (6-12-25) Winter Walk. I’ve just seen that the road through the Duddon is closed for roadworks until Monday. So we’re moving the venue of Saturday’s walk to Eskdale. Meet to leave at 0930 from Forge Bridge (parking just south of the bridge w3w: ///rosette.apes.ties SD 14871 99507). This venue gives us lots of options for lower and higher level routes; looking at the weather forecast this flexibility will be valuable! Given the new venue we’ll definitely go ahead with the walk, but do bring suitable clothing and footwear for a wet, muddy and windy outing. As compensation, there are a number of good pubs to dry off in afterwards! If you’ve not contacted me already, do let us know (07713017740, s.d.price@ucl.ac.uk) if you are coming. Sorry for the unavoidable change in plans.

It certainly was not dry, but the weather played ball enough to allow us an interesting 10 km walk through Eskdale, including a red squirrel, a raging Stanley Ghyll Force and an encounter with the DMC (Duddon Mountaineering Club) which briefly raised the dog count to 4. The Esk had dropped a little in the time we were out, and the heaviest rain of the day waited until we were back at the cars and on our way to the Bowerhouse. Thanks to Mark W Jonathan C, Craig, Richard and Geraint for helping make the most of a damp Saturday. Steve and Kath
