Winter Walk: A heart-shaped circuit South of Loweswater:

The forecast is looking good, if cold, for Saturday’s (14-2-26) walk. To avoid repeating too much of Judith’s relocated walk from January, we propose to meet for an 0930 departure at the roadside parking at Fangs Brow(///thinking.bronzes.backswing NY 10536 22604) where there is roadside space for a number of cars. Weather permitting, the plan is to follow the ridge line over Blake Fell and on over Gavel Fell, descending northwards to return via Loweswater. Please let us know if you are coming, so we know who to expect. We’ll post on Friday to confirm the plans or to announce any weather induced changes. Saturday’s meet: The weather forecast is still good, if cold, and much less windy than today (phew!); so tomorrow’s meet will go ahead. The ground likely to be frozen with today’s snow (which was lying above 400m) more consolidated. We’ll probably have micro-spikes in our bags but probably unnecessary. Do let us know if you’re coming so we can make sure everyone is present before we set off.

Sometimes you get lucky. Seven KMC members (and three dogs!) enjoyed the best day for over a month as we climbed Blake Fell from Fangs Brow, traversed Gavel Fell and returned to the cars via Loweswater. Light winds, bright sunshine and a whiff of Spring accompanied crystal clear views of snow dusted peaks well into the Southern uplands. Even the usually sodden ground was (mostly!) rendered easy going by the heavy frost. A great day out. Thanks to Mark W, Stuart K, Geraint, Alvaro, Mick for the company. Kath and Steve
