Shepherd’s Crag is a crag in Borrowdale, Cumbria that provides superb rock climbing at every grade on cliffs up to about 50m high. It is a very popular crag, mainly due to its easy access, though many of the routes are of great quality, e.g. Brown Slab Routes(D-VS), Little Chamonix(VD), Ardus(MVS), Derision Groove(MVS), Adam and Eve(VS), Fishers Folly(VS), Kransic Crack(HVS), Finale(HVS), Aaros(E1), Grasp(E1), Bludgeon(E1).

Note The UKC website states that parking is no longer available at High Lodore Farm

The weather is looking uncertain on Tuesday evening, so the meet may move back to Thursday evening (also weather dependent).

However, if Tuesday’s forecast improves and looks dry, the place to meet up will be at the Brown Slabs area of Shepherd’s.
There is parking at Kettlewell car park, or south of the crag. It’s a good idea to car share from Keswick or further afield so do use the WhatsApp group to team up.

I may not be able to get there until later on, so there may be a last minute swap of meet leader on Tuesday, and most likely Mark Ward will take over if the meet is moved to Thursday.

For newer members of the club and those not familiar with Shepherd’s Crag, Brown Slabs is the northern end of the crag, and it’s a good idea to get there and ask around for other KMC members. Bring a rope if you have one, even if you don’t plan to lead. There are routes from single pitch Diffs to multipitches and E grades so something for everyone.

If you are in the WhatsApp group, keep an eye there for weather updates and a decision on whether the meet goes ahead on Tuesday.

    Tina

A fitting end to the season, the weather finally relented and indeed we were treated to a warm and dry evening.

KMC members responded with enthusiasm tackling routes across the grades and the breadth of the crag. Routes bagged included Conclusion, Brown slabs arete, Brown slabs scoop, Brown slabs face, Finale, Fishers Folly, Kransic Crack Direct, Crescendo and Jackdaw Ridge, if I have missed any I apologise.

Thanks to Jon T, Bry, Olli W, Sam K, Pete, Dan H-B, Dan W, Mike M, Jonathan C, Mike H, Dave W and Jane for joining me and making this seasons Tuesday evening “Finale” a night to remember

    Cheers
