Saturday’s forecast is for an overcast but dry day, with light winds. But, in case Storm Agnes lasts longer than expected and/or causes some travel difficulties, I’ve decided to stay local for this scramble. Cam Crag Ridge is an oldie but a goldie – always worth repeating. There are options at grade 1, 2 and 3 depending on degree of relaxation/excitement desired.

Meet at Borrowdale School in Stonethwaite at 10 a.m. Parking at the school in return for a donation or along the road (taking care not to block access). The Borrowdale bus also stops at the Stonethwaite turning.

If anyone wants a lift from the business park in Cockermouth, leaving at 9.15, please let me know via e-mail – judithbrown3@aol.com or the Cockermouth lifts WhatsApp Group. Can make a Keswick area pick-up en route if needed.

Undeterred by an iffy weather forecast an intrepid eight successfully tackled a somewhat greasy Cam Crag Ridge. Threatening clouds did not encourage lingering, so we opted for the steep but direct descent back to Stonethwaite via the scenic Stanger Ghyll, followed by liquid refreshment in the Scafell Hotel.

The team was Anne, Ros, Geraint, Jonathan C, Craig, Richard, Mick and Judith. Thanks to everyone for an enjoyable day on the hill.
