Good selection of short (20-25m) mainly single pitch middle grade routes. There is loose rock on routes, but manageable. Dries quite quickly in summer. Harder routes are quite bold. Don’t miss Route 2(HS), Tritus/Protus(HVS).
Good evening crag – close to Wainwrights Inn!!

Approach notes
Parking directly below the crag. 5 minute steady uphill approach.

Tomorrow’s meet at Raven Crag Walthwaite (near Chapel Stile) is ON. The forecast isn’t great, but looks as bad or worse if we were to postpone till Thursday. The forecast shows a 30% chance of drizzle or light showers in the morning but drying up and getting sunnier for the late afternoon and evening.

The crag is small, with only 5-6 routes that will suite most of us, but the routes are good.

Try and share cars if you can, as there are only a few car parking places beneath the crag. You will find parking if you continue along the road beneath the crag (keeping right). You’ll end up at a car park < 15 mins walk from the crag. A map, and the page listing the climbs in ‘Lake District Rock’ is on the WhatsApp chat (posted last Friday). I can be contacted on stuartataltitude@gmail.com or 07801132576. See you tomorrow.

The meet was attended by Stuart W, Celia W, Steve P, Martin A, Richard E, Jon T, Mark W, Judith B, Tina H and Andy B. I naughtily left while climbing was still in full progress, so some extra members may have arrived and not been listed. We all concentrated on the easier climbs and Route 1, Route 2, Enterprize and Hardup Wall all had multiple assents. Since my accident 2 years ago I had not completed a single climb (just half way up 3 or 4 routes), so getting to the top of Route 1 was a major achievement for me – and big thanks to Martin & Steve for patiently waiting for me to climb it (and putting up with my steam engine noises).

Many members may have been put off by threatened rain, but the crag was dry and a good temperature. I think we all had fun!
