A selection of short and long (three pitch) routes on six different buttresses along the hillside above the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel. Good selection at all grades. Quick drying. Best routes – Middlefell Buttress(D), Original Route(S), Pluto(HVS), Trilogy(E5), Dawes Rides a Shovelhead(E8), Centrefold(E6), R ‘n’ S Special(E5), Bilberry Buttress(VS), Revelation(HS). Take care on the SE descent past the large block above the top of Revelation, which was affected by rockfall in August 2018 – further information on an alternative (abseil) descent has been posted here: https://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/rocktalk/more_on_raven_crag_rockfall-691587

Approach notes
Park in the car park at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel Crags are 10 – 15 min. walk up behind the pub.

Tuesday’s meet is at Raven Crag in Langdale and the forecast is currently showers in the morning followed by a drying afternoon and evening, so the meet will go ahead unless that changes.
This fine crag offers a variety of multi-pitch routes on clean, quick drying rock, from Diff to High E’s. National Trust pay and display parking is at the Old Dungeon Ghyll NY286061 followed by a 10-15 minute walk up to the crag.
Pub afterwards will be The Old Dungeon Ghyll.
I will be at the car park at 4pm before heading up to the crag. Any questions, I’m on andyb0248@hotmail.com or whatsapp.
If anyone is interested in climbing earlier, I can be at the crag from around noon – let me know.
    Andy

Although most of us drove through rain to get there, Raven Crag Langdale stayed dry and occasionally even the sun came out. A great turnout of 18 club members meant that many routes were done including Middlefell Buttress, Evening Wall, Original Route, Holly Tree Traverse, Pluto, Bilberry Buttress and Revelation. A drink in the ODG beer garden finished the evening off for most.
Thanks to David, Bry, Jonathan C, Jonathan T, Audrey, Sam, Mark, Matt, Judith, Anne, Pete, Stuart, Aileen, Andrew, Steve, Kath and Richard for making it a great afternoon and evening.

    Cheers

    Andy
