Goats Crag is in an idyllic setting, with splendid views and on quick drying rock. Gets plenty of sun.

Up to 15m high. Plenty of good short routes from D to E4. The best of which are; Mort (E1), Pussy Galore (E2), Optional Omission (E1), Inner Limits (HVS), Emma Line (HVS), Mackanory (E1)

Approach
20 min steep approach from the Watendlath road, through a field then directly up the fellside.

    Goats Crag, Watendlath Meet

Due to a somewhat poor weather forecast I have decided to postpone the meet till Thursday(16/5).

I will review the situation on Wednesday.

    Thanks,
    Pete

Pete is unable to lead the meet on Thursday so I have assumed the lead. The weather forecast tomorrow looks ok except for the possibility of a thunder shower around tea time so this meet will go ahead. If necessary, I will cancel at short notice

I will be leaving Cockermouth just before 3 aiming to be on the crag for 4, lift share available just let me know.

There is limited roadside parking just below the crag otherwise Watendlath NT car park will provide overflow capacity

If you intend to come along please let me, its a long journey to discover you are Billy-no-mates.

    Contact details email markward1962@gmail.com or txt/WhatApp 07500155064

    Cheers

The weather gods smiled on us for a pleasant change, after the usual steep struggle up to the crag we were rewarded by dry sticky rock and a warm spring evening.

Multiple ascents were made of many routes including, from left to right, Mort, Munich Agreement, Optional Omission, Inner Limits, The Green, The Slab, Poland, Everybody’s Dream, Emma Line, Low End in Sight, Son of Oz, Route 8 and Route 8.5. There was a particularly determined (and vocal) attempt by Matt to tame Pussy Galore which ultimately proved unsuccessful but, however, remains worthy of note.

Thanks to Mark M, Mike W, Joe, Alistair, Jon T, Andrew and Matt for joining me and contributing to what was a fantastic evening meet
