Opposite Raven Crag, Dove Nest was formed by a great rock face slipping downwards which now leans back against the rock face behind. The result is a crag that has a number of passages and cavities running throughout it! These passages have made Dove Nest well known.
There are 17 climbs in total ranging from D to E1, some of which take you through the cavities behind the rock slab.
Approach
Climb into Combe Gill but stay on the left hand side of the beck. The crag is the obvious clean outcrop of rock just to the left of the head of the combe. An hour from the road.

Hi everyone,
The weather for this Tuesday’s is at Dove’s Nest , Combe Ghyll doesn’t look promising at present. I will be reviewing on Monday afternoon/ evening.
The meet is intended to be at Dove’s Nest Combe Ghyll, Borrowdale, a crag high up on the west facing side of Combe Ghyll.
Parking is along the minor road towards Thorneythwaithe Farm on the right hand side. I think there was an honesty box last time I was there. NY 25022 13560
There are deep passages and unusual climbs on excellent rock, ranging from a D , VD ** to harder climbs of MVS ** upwards of around four pitches.

If it doesn’t go ahead on Tuesday, we will try for Thursday.I will aim to be at the crag around 4pm, if anyone wants a lift from Keswick around 3.15 please let me know.
