Classic Borrowdale climbing! Two main buttresses, North buttress on the left and South buttress on the right.
Home to the deservedly popular Troutdale Pinnacle (S). Other classics include The Shroud (VS), The Mortician (HVS), Troutdale Pinnacle Superdirect (HVS), Raindrop (E1), Prana (E3) and Grand Alliance (E4).
A twenty minute walk from parking in laybys just south of the Leathes Head Hotel. Alternatively Park in the Bowderstone NT car park and take the path at the left hand side back to Black Crag

The weather forecast for Tuesday is very encouraging. This week’s venue is Black Crag in Borrowdale. It is a great location with a wide range of multi-pitch routes from the relatively easy through to the frankly ridiculous.
I am aiming to get to the Crag about 3.30 if that’s convenient for others. I can be there earlier if that suits anyone better. Please post to WhatsApp if necessary.

It was a successful evening at Black Crag last night and unusually for this year, we enjoyed glorious weather. Stunning views out over Derwent Water.
The routes climbed included the classics, Troutdale Pinnacle, Direct and some combination of Raindrop and Superdirect. The precise line of the latter is unclear as Matt and Pete continued their fine tradition of being last off the crag and missing the pub.
Thanks to everyone who attended, Alastair, Nick, Jon, Brian, Cath, Hester, Pete and Matt.
